Court Houses open to the public at 8:00 AM and close at 5:00 PM. Monday through Friday except on court holidays. (Security will not allow early or late entry.)

The Superior Court Building in Walnut Creek serves the communities of Alamo, Canyon, Danville, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, Rheem, Rossmoor, San Ramon, St. Mary's College, Walnut Creek, and Ygnacio Valley.

There is only one entrance to the courthouse, and this is accessible for people with disabilities. Anyone entering the Court must go through a security checkpoint to help make sure that everyone in the building will be safe at all times.

Filing Windows

In this court you can file small claims, criminal, traffic, and landlord/tenant cases. Clerks accept payment of filing fees, traffic fines and fees, and they also sell court forms.  Services are provided in three areas – one  for civil cases, one for traffic cases, and one for criminal cases.

Upstairs Lobby

There are four courtrooms in Walnut Creek –one on the ground floor and three on the second floor. People involved in court cases being heard on the second floor may wait in the lobby for their case to be called.


Cases heard in Walnut Creek include small claims and traffic proceedings. Some criminal, domestic violence, juvenile, civil harassment  and landlord/tenant matters are also heard here.

Jury Assembly Room

The Jury Assembly Room is on the ground floor, next to Department 59. It has wireless Internet access for people who bring their own computers, and vending machines with snacks and beverages. In addition to hosting the members of the public called to be potential jurors, the room has videoconferencing equipment that enables it to be used to broadcast free, interactive family law self-help workshops.

Drop Box

The Walnut Creek drop box is located to the right of the entrance to the courthouse. Please be sure that your name, address, phone number, and case number are clearly noted on any payments or correspondence that you place in the drop box.

NOTE: Any document deposited in this drop box between 8:00am and 5:00pm will be deemed filed on that same day.
